When something on the equipment pad stops working, the pool goes downhill fast. Golden Poolscapes diagnoses and repairs pool equipment across the Birmingham area — and we tell you honestly whether a repair or a replacement is the better path.

What We Repair

Pumps and Motors

Noisy bearings, leaking shaft seals, motors that won’t start, and pumps losing prime. Many pump failures come down to a seal or an impeller rather than the whole unit, and we’ll say so when that’s the case.

Filters

Cracked manifolds, torn DE grids, collapsed cartridges, blown multiport valve spiders, and tank o-ring leaks. Rising filter pressure is usually the first warning, which is why we check it on every visit.

Heaters

Ignition failures, error codes, corroded heat exchangers, and gas valve problems. Heaters are the most complex item on most pads, so a real diagnosis matters before anyone recommends replacing one.

Salt Systems

Cells that have scaled over, stopped producing, or reached end of life, plus control boards and flow switches. A salt system that appears dead is often a scaled cell or a low salt reading rather than a failed unit.

Automation and Controls

Timers, actuators, valve controls, and automation panels that have lost their programming or stopped responding.

Plumbing and Leaks

Leaking unions, cracked PVC, failing valves, and suction-side air leaks that keep your pump from holding prime.

How We Handle Diagnosis

We find the actual failure before recommending anything. That sounds obvious, but the shortcut in this industry is to skip diagnosis and go straight to a new unit, because replacement is the easier sale.

You’ll get an explanation of what failed, what caused it, and what your options are — including the option of doing nothing yet, when the problem isn’t urgent. Nothing gets performed without your approval.

When Replacement Genuinely Makes Sense

Sometimes it does. A twelve-year-old single-speed pump with a failed motor is usually worth replacing rather than rebuilding, both because the repair won’t last and because a variable-speed replacement runs considerably more efficiently over the seasons that follow.

The distinction we hold to is that replacement should be recommended when it’s genuinely the better outcome for you, not by default.

Repairs for Non-Service Customers

You don’t have to be on a maintenance plan for us to repair your equipment. We take one-off repair calls throughout our service area, though customers on weekly service get scheduling priority during peak season.

Request a Repair Visit

Tell us what the equipment is doing — or not doing — along with any error codes and the approximate age of the unit, and we’ll get you scheduled.
